Cubes
A
Cube
is a multidimensional representation of a portion of an analytic model -- similar to OLAP-style hyper-cubes.
Cubes
are designed for users of
traditional spreadsheets
and are easy to use.
A
Cube
has up to 15
Dimensions
that form the axes.
Each one of these
Dimensions
has a number of
Items
which categorize the
Dimension
.
At the intersection of all the
Items
for all the
Dimensions
are the
Cells
.
The
Cells
in the
Cube
can contain numbers, text and other constants as well as
Formulas
with links to other
Cubes
,
Sheets
,
Variables
or
Queries
.
These
Formula
links provide the 'spreadsheet behind a cell' feature that facilitates the decomposition of the model into parts, managed by multiple team members, across the enterprise.
Like an OLAP cube, the
user
can navigate using the slice, pivot and drill-down operations. A
user
can split the display to show two parts of a
Cube
or other
object
at the same time. With this feature it is a simple matter to click and interconnect
